Gifts for the Frequent Traveler

It’s that time of year again. The holidays. It seems to come earlier and earlier. Whether you are ecstatic or you merely endure it, it’s coming and will most likely be complete chaos from Halloween until New Years. The last thing you need right now is to struggle to find the perfect gift. Some people are a snap. You know them better than they know themselves and you know for certain what to get them, in fact, you’ve known for months. But what about the ones that are impossible to shop for? The ones that seems to have everything? What about the people who are so special to you that every gift idea you come up with just doesn’t do them justice? Don’t stress, you’ve come to the right place!

Does your special person love to go on adventures? Maybe they dream of exploring far off places, but have yet to commit. Maybe work takes them on more trips than they care to go on. The following list of gifts for the frequent traveler will either encourage a love of travel or help the recurrent traveler survive their upcoming excursions.

Push Pin Travel Map

One night at dinner, my kids and I were talking about trips we wanted to take and places they wanted to explore. They have been flying on planes since infancy so they are no stranger to travel. As we chatted about Japan, India, and France, I realized that they will soon be old enough to have some say in our trips. While listening to their excited chatter, an idea started to bloom. I got online and found this pushpin map. The idea is nothing new and it has many similarities to other travel maps. You can pin where you’ve been, where you’re going and places you dream of exploring. What sets this map apart is the clean, artistic design. It would be a focal point in any room. The cork map includes pins and country flags as well as stickers. We plan to choose different destinations, color coded by family member, and when they get old enough we will start exploring. Whomever’s destination gets picked will have to do research, learn about the culture and maybe a little of the language.  They can then teach the rest of us. This map is not only a great gift for kids, but also adults, from the most seasoned traveler to the mere dreamer.

The TravelWrap Travel Scarf

The Scots know blistery, cool weather like no others so it’s no surprise that this is where the Travelwrap Company hails from. Their expertise in keeping toasty shows in their beautiful travel wraps. Each one is made of 100% cashmere and comes in a number of colors, knits and weights. The Peregrine, a personal favorite, is a new twist on the classic, Scottish herringbone design. It is a heavier knit that will keep you cozy on the windy moors of Scotland or when you are winding your way through that “easy” corn maze for the third straight hour. This beauty costs between $300 and $484 but it will last a lifetime of winters, making it completely worth the expense!

  1. Ohhhh wow, there are some good thoughts for gifts in here! I particularly love it when you see something and immediately a specific person pops into your mind – you just know it will be perfect for them!

I adore the Moscow Mule carry-on cocktail idea, (might just have to get one for myself too!) The question really is, do they have other cocktails as well, and exactly how many of these can I stuff in my carry-on and still get through security? This calls for some research over a few cocktails of my own I think!

    Thanks for the fantastic ideas!

Ha! So glad you found some good gift giving ideas! I’m sure there are other cocktail kits as well! I did some quick research and found these, if you are interested. I’m sure security will be fine with anything as long as they are in 3oz bottles! Thanks so much, for the kind words.
